The original Furious Monkey
In 2019, I was thinking about opening a small brewery in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I had brewed under the homebrew name Shyzabrau since my first batches in 1991, but that was not exactly built for a taproom sign.
Then King Gambrinus' Brewer, my Shih tzu/poodle mix and longtime Monkey Boy, jumped into my lap while he was especially overgrown. I accidentally hit the Google microphone button and said, “Brewer, you are the furriest Monkey!”
Google heard “furious monkey.” For a small dog who barked at everything, it was perfect. The brewery finally had its name.
